CLAFLIN-Brody Crites passed for 158 yards and two touchdowns as the Central Plains Oilers blew past Solomon for a 52-6 Homecoming victory Friday night in District action at Central Plains High School.

Eli Hurley returned the opening kickoff to the Solomon 24-yard line.  Three plays later, Hurley found the end zone with a 17-yard run and the two-point conversion was good to give Central Plains a 8-0 advantage.  On their next possession, Crites hit Aiden Hekele in stride for a 63-yard touchdown pass and the two-point play swelled the lead to 16-0.

Three minutes later Richard Stroud scored on a 10-yard run but the conversion failed, leaving the score at 22-0.  Hurley's second touchdown of the evening from seven yards out made the score 28-0 with another failed conversion.

Stroud's second touchdown of the game from 26 yards out with 13 seconds remaining in the opening period gave the Oilers a 36-0 advantage after the first 12 minutes.

Crites connected with Hekele for a second touchdown pass from 47 yards out and the two-point play made the score 44-0.  The Oilers' last points of the night came on a two-yard touchdown run by backup running back Issac Heredia and the two-point conversion.  The Gorillas avoided the shutout when Matt Hamm-Jones returned the ensuing kickoff 60 yards for a touchdown with 3:41 left in the second quarter to provide the final margin of 52-6 as the result of the game ending at halftime due to the 45-point rule.

The Central Plains defense was stifling, holding Solomon (0-4, 0-1 in District) to just two first downs and one yard of total offense, while racking up 277 yards of their own.

Central Plains (3-1, 1-0 in District) will be on the road next Friday, October 4 when they travel to Goessel while Solomon will be away for the second week in a row with a contest at Ell-Saline.
