Counts Leads Russell Runners With 3rd Place Medal at Lyons

The Russell High School Varsity Cross Country team competed at a meet hosted by Lyons High School on Tuesday.

Leading the way for Russell was Averie Counts who placed third in the Girls Varsity race and earned a medal in a time of 22:39, Maddie Wieger ran a solid time of 28:32 but did not medal.

On the Boys side, Kaleb Ives-Thull ran in a time of 23:52 but finished out of the medals.

The Russell runners will next see action on Thursday, October 9 at the Mid-Continent League meet which will be held in Phillipsburg. Races are set to begin at 4 p.m.
