Eleven RHS Football Players Receive MCL All-League Recognition
Eleven Russell High School football players have received 2022 Mid-Continent League All-League Football recognition.
Senior Wyatt Middleton was named first team quarterback by unanimous decision. He was 136 of 238 passing for 1,863 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also rushed for 297 yards and five touchdowns.
Senior Jacob Ney was named second team running back. He rushed for 625 yards and four touchdowns.
Senior Jackson Cross was named first team receiver by unanimous decision. He totaled 613 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Senior Jace Peerman was also named first team receiver. He finished with 463 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. Freshman Walker Middleton was named honorable mention receiver. He totaled 298 yards receiving and one touchdown.
Senior Brayden Strobel was named second team tight end. He had 222 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
Sophomore Teagan Pfeifer was named second team offensive lineman. Junior Zach Martinez was named honorable mention offensive lineman.
Junior Roman Hernandez was named first team defensive lineman. He finished with 59 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, four fumble recoveries and two fumbles recovered for touchdowns. Strobel was named honorable mention defensive lineman. He finished with 60 total tackles, six tackles for loss, four sacks and one fumble recovery.
Senior Cameron Farmer was named second team linebacker. He led the team with 89 total tackles. He also had two fumble recoveries. Senior Charlie Krug was named honorable mention linebacker. He finished with 80 total tackles and two interceptions.
Ney was named first team defensive back. He had 78 total tackles, one interception and one blocked field goal. Cross was named honorable mention defensive back. He finished with 21 total tackles.
And Krug was named first team punter. His average punt yardage was 42.8 yards.
The Russell Broncos were 6-4 in 2022 and MCL champions.
