Farmer Sparks Broncos in Sweep at Goodland

Game 1: Russell-Victoria 6, Goodland 4
Game 2: Russell-Victoria 18, Goodland 1
The Russell-Victoria Broncos are playing their best Baseball of the season at the right time ahead of the start of Regional play next week.
Cameron Farmer was a single shy of hitting for the cycle in Game 1 and had five hits on the day as Russell-Victoria extended its season-high winning streak to six games with a doubleheaer sweep at Goodland by scores of 6-4 and 18-1 Thursday afternoon.
Brayden Drake picked up the victory for Russell-Victoria in Game 1 and Jackson Cross shut down the Cowboys to pick up the save. Wyatt Middleton was the winning pitcher in the nightcap, tossing a five-inning complete game. The doubleheader was added after the Broncos games against TMP-Marian-La Crosse were canceled as the result of a wind storm in Russell on April 29.
Russell-Victoria wraps up the regular season with a record of 11-9 and now turns its attention to Regionals. Even though Russell is technically the tournament host, the Broncos will be unable to hold the event at the Shaffer Field Complex as a result of that storm.
The Broncos are the #4 seed and will face #5 seed Larned on Monday at 5 p.m. The winner of the Russell-Victoria-Larned game will face the winner of Monday's first round game between Lincoln-Sylvan-Lucas and Ellsworth on Wednesday in the semifinals at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
Monday's game between Russell-Victoria and Larned will air on KRSL AM 990/98.1 FM, Nex-Tech Cable TV Channel 130 and online at KRSL.com. Coverage will begin at 4:45 p.m.
