Five Broncos Earn All-League Football Honors

The 2021 Mid-Continent League All-League Football Teams have been announced.

Five Russell Broncos were honored.

Senior running back Jacob Windholz, senior linebacker Jesse Whitmer and junior defensive back Jacob Ney were named Second Team All-League.

Windholz rushed for 503 yards on 64 carries and five touchdowns in 2021. He averaged nearly eight yards per carry. Whitmer had 66 total tackles, 15 for loss. Ney had 66 total tackles, two for loss and two interceptions.

Senior defensive linemen LaAries Winzerling and Josh Sohm were named Honorable Mention All-League.

Winzerling finished with 51 total tackles, three for loss, one forced fumble and two sacks in 2021. Sohm had 25 total tackles, three for loss, five sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

The Broncos finished 4-5 in 2021 under first year Head Coach Mark Baldwin. They were 2-1 in the MCL.
