Lady Broncos Sweep to First Wins of 2026
Game 1: Russell-Victoria 17, Plainville 0
Game 2: Russell-Victoria 23, Plainville 4
The Russell-Victoria Lady Broncos Softball team took out four games worth of frustration on visiting Plainville by sweeping a doubleheader against the Lady Cardinals by scores of 17-0 and 23-4 on a breezy Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Park.
In the opener, the Lady Broncos provided plenty of support for Gracelynn Dinkel who tossed a no-hitter and struck out seven while coming within one walk of pitching a perfect game.
In Game 2, Norah Mooney picked up the victory in the pitcher's circle. After Plainville scored two runs in the top of the first, Russell-Victoria (2-4) erupted for 12 runs in their half of the frame and added 11 more tallies in the second inning on their way to the double-win.
Both contests ended after the top of the third inning as a result of the run rule.
The Lady Broncos will now begin a long stretch of away games on Thursday, April 2 when they travel to Colby for a doubleheader. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 4 p.m. Russell-Victoria will next play at Memorial Park on Tuesday, April 28 when they host Larned.
