For the first time this season the Russell-Victoria Lady Bronco Softball team experienced something that had been absent all year to this point, the wrong end of a doubleheader sweep.

Russell-Victoria, already assured of a #1 seed in next week's Class 3A Regional at Larned battled against their arch-rivals from TMP-Marian/LaCrosse, but the Lady Monarchs wound up prevailing in both ends of the twinbill.

In Game 1, Russell-Victoria could not hold a lead in the middle innings and wound up falling to TMP 6-5.  In the nightcap, the Lady Monarchs built up a 12-2 lead in the fourth inning before the Lady Broncos mounted a furious comeback in the late innings only to see it come up short as TMP prevailed 13-10.

Russell-Victoria (15-5) now turns its attention to postseason play which begins on Monday, May 17 with the first round of the Class 3A Regional hosted by Larned.  The Lady Broncos will face the #8 seed and host team Larned at 5:30 p.m.  The winner of that game will play the winner of the game between #4 seed Sylvan-Lucas-Lincoln and #5 seed Ellsworth in a semifinal game on Wednesday, May 19 at 2 p.m.  The Championship game is set for 5 p.m. on May 19.

Monday's game with Larned will be broadcast live on KRSL 95.9 FM and streamed online at krsl.com
