The Russell-Victoria Lady Broncos softball team continued their winning ways Tuesday with a 13-5 victory over Ellsworth in Game 1 of a doubleheader at Memorial Park in Russell. The second game of the twin bill was halted in the second inning with the Lady Broncos in front 2-1 and was ultimately postponed after a short delay. There is no word as of yet on a possible makeup date.

In Game 1, the Lady Broncos raced out to a 7-0 lead after three innings and were never really threatened. The biggest inning for Russell-Victoria was the third inning when the Lady Broncos tallied five runs off the bats of Kendra Bay, Kassi Weber and Brooklynn Kuhn. Valerie Dome and Taylor Powers each contributed two hits to the Lady Bronco offensive attack.

Brooklyn Nowak picked up the victory for Russell-Victoria with a complete game victory, scattering six hits while striking out six Ellsworth batters over seven innings of work.

Russell-Victoria (5-0) is next in action on Friday, April 9 when they host Sacred Heart at the Memorial Park Complex.  The Lady Broncos will have the opportunity to tie or even surpass their victory totals for the 2018 and 2019 campaigns when they won six games in each of those seasons.

First pitch is set for 4 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on KRSL 95.9 FM and streamed on KRSL.com
