Mooney's Season Ends After Missing Cut at State

Russell High School Sophomore Jake Mooney saw his season draw to a close Monday in the first round of the Class 3A Boys State Golf Tournament at the Emporia Municipal Golf Course.

Mooney had a difficult round and wound up finishing 66th out of 101 participants with a 21 over par.  As a result Mooney misses the cut to be eligible for the tournament's second final day and his season is over.

Mooney was by far the most successful golfer for Russell High School this season with many top five finishes whicn included a first place finish at the Ellsworth Tournament earlier this month and a fourth place finish last week at the Class 3A Regional in Norton.
