Regional Baseball, Softball Brackets Out; Russell 3A Baseball Regional Moved to Great Bend
Brackets are out for next week's regional baseball and softball tournaments in Kansas for Classes 3A and 2-1A.
The Russell/Victoria baseball team (9-9) drew the #4 seed in their own 3A Regional and will take on fifth-seeded Larned (7-11) in the first round. With the Broncos being the higher seed, the game should be in Russell. But due to damage to the scoreboard and field at Shaffer Field from a wind storm earlier this spring, the game now will be played in Larned on Monday, May 16 at 5 PM. Also, Russell will not be able to host the semifinal and championship games on Wednesday, May 18 as originally planned. Again due to the damage to the field, Wednesday's games now will be play on the turf fields at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
Lincoln/Sylvan-Lucas (2-14) also is part of the Russell Regional. They are seeded eighth and play at top-seeded Ellsworth (17-3) on Monday, May 16 at 5 PM.
The Russell/Victoria softball team (7-13) is the fifth seed in the TMP-Marian/Lacrosse 3A Regional and plays fourth-seeded Sylvan-Lucas/Lincoln (8-10) in Sylvan Grove on Monday, May 16 at 5 PM. The semifinal and championship games will be played on Wednesday, May 18 at the TMP-Marian field in Hays.
The Wilson baseball team is part of the Ell-Saline 2-1A Regional. The Dragons (0-6) are the eighth seed and play top-seeded Little River (15-5) in Salina at Matson Field on Monday, May 16. Game start at 1 PM. Wilson's game against Little River is the third game on the schedule for Monday. Semifinal and championship games are Thursday, May 19 in Salina.
