Russell K-18 Baseball Opens Postseason with Win

The Russell K-18 summer 15-and-under baseball team shut out the Smith Center White 8-0 in the first round of the K-18 Twin Lakes League Tournament at Shaffer Field in Russell on Monday, July 5.

Russell, the #2 seed, improves to 10-2 on the summer and advances to the semifinals on Thursday, July 8 in Beloit where they will face third-seeded Waconda at around 8 PM. Top-seeded Smith Center Red plays #4 Beloit Blue at 6 PM. Winners meet in the championship game on Friday, July 9 at 8 PM. The losers of the semifinal games play for third place at 6 PM on Friday.

The top four teams in the league tournament advance to the K-18 regional tournament in Concordia July 12-17.
