Russell-Victoria Softball Swept at Ellsworth

The Russell-Victoria Lady Broncos Softball team hit the road again on Tuesday for a doubleheader in Ellsworth.  

The Lady Bearcats cruised to a 17-5 victory in Game 1 and then edged the Lady Broncos in the nightcap, 11-10.

In Game 1, the Lady Broncos built a 2-0 lead after an inning and a half before Ellsworth erupted for eight unanswered runs in their half of the second inning and the Lady Bearcats went on to cruise from there.  Norah Mooney took the loss in relief of starting pitcher Gracelynn Dinkel.  Caidyn Dinkel, Gracelynn Dinkel and Jasmine Jefferson each had two hits for Russell-Victoria, which stole seven bases despite the lopsided loss.

The nightcap was a heartbreaker for Russell-Victoria which led 10-8 heading into the bottom of the seventh, but a solo home run and a two-run single helped Ellsworth rally for the walk-off win.  Gracelynn Dinkel was the losing pitcher for the Lady Broncos who lost despite stealing 10 more bases in Game 2.

Russell-Victoria (2-8) is next in action on Tuesday, April 14 when they travel to Sylvan Grove for a doubleheader with Sylvan-Lucas.  First pitch for Game 1 is set for 4 p.m.
