Just over a month removed from winning the program's first State Championship, five members of the Russell Lady Broncos Wrestling team competed at the Heartland Duals, April 2-4 in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

According to a social media post on the RHS Lady Bronco Wrestling Facebook page, Averie Counts, Camry Ney, Aalyiah Trevino, Arianna Weigel and Kinsey Zorn represented Kansas at the competition which was held at the Mid-America Center and sanctioned by USA Wrestling.

In a dominating performance, Counts, Trevino, Weigel and Zorn all contributed with victories as their team swept to an 8-0 record and the team championship, which was another honor for the four Russell wrestlers who all won individual state titles in their respective weight classes at the Class 3-2-1A KSHSAA State Tournament in late February in Hays.  Ney, who was competing for a separate team helped her teammates to a fourth place finish at the event.

Weigel went undefeated in her matches and earned Heartland Duals All-American status.
