Russell's Mooney Three Strokes Off Lead After Day One at 3A State
Russell's Jake Mooney turned in a solid three over par 73 and is in third place, three strokes behind the leader after the first day of the Class 3A State Golf Tournament at Lake Shawnee Golf Course in Topeka.
Landon Langston of Wichita Collegiate is the leader after carding an even par 70. Braxton Parsons joined Mooney as one of two Russell golfers to make the cut for day two after finishing the first day with a 14 over par 84 and tied for 39th. Mooney is assured of medaling at State for a second consecutive year.
Russell as a team missed the cut in the quest for a Class 3A State Championship as the Broncos currently stand 52 strokes behind tournament leader Wichita Collegiate with a team score of 67 over par.

Peyton Gibson - 34 over par 104

Victoria's Dinkel Makes Cut at Class 1A Tournament
Aiden Dinkel who also played much of the season for the Broncos Golf team as part of the Russell-Victoria co-op, assured himself of competing at day two of the Class 1A State Golf Tournament at the Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson finishing tied for 34th with an 18 over par 88, 20 strokes behind the leader Gavin Wahl of South Gray.
The State Golf Tournaments will wrap up competition on Wednesday.
