They may be freshmen, but you would not know it. Russell's Jadon Ney and Tionna Napue continued their great seasons with top three finishes at the Nickerson Girls Invitational on Friday, January 21.

Ney went 3-0 with a pair of falls and a 9-4 win in the championship to take her 132 pound weight division. She improves to 21-3 this winter.

Napue went 3-1 and placed third at 120 pounds. All three of her wins were by fall and the lone loss, which was her first loss this season, came in the semifinals in overtime to undefeated and the top-ranked 5-6A wrestler at 115 pounds, Rodah Bengi from Wichita North. Napue is now 26-1.

Russell finished eighth out of 21 teams with 57 points. Wichita North won the team title with 212 points. The meet featured schools ranging from Class 4-1A to 5-6A.

Russell was scheduled to compete in the Rawlins County Invite in Atwood on Saturday, January 23, but opted not to go due to the length of Friday's tournament. So next up for the Lady Broncos is a trip to WaKeeney on Friday, January 28 for the Trego Girls Invite. Matches begin at 1 PM.
