Russell's Pfeifer Places Third in Hays Tournament, Two Girls Compete in Nickerson

The Russell High School boys wrestling team competed in the Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic hosted by Hays High School on Saturday, January 21.

The Broncos placed 19th out of 22 schools with 34 points. Manhattan took the team title with 202.5 points. Junction City was second with 181.5 points. Great Bend was third with 176.5 points.

Russell had seven wrestlers compete with two earning top six finishes. Teagen Pfeifer went 4-1 and placed third at 165 pounds. Brayden Strobel placed sixth at 175 with a 3-3 mark.

Two members of the RHS girls wrestling team went to the Nickerson Invitational. Madison Raybern went 1-4 and placed fifth at 105. Allison Grieve was 0-5 at 110.

The Russell boys and girls travel to Norton for the Mid-Continent League Tournament on Friday, January 27. Matches begin at 1 PM.
