Russell/Sylvan-Lucas Boys Wrestlers Cap Regular Season

The Russell/Sylvan-Lucas Boys Wrestling team finished the 2023-24 regular season with a duel at Stockton and participation at the Panther Classic in Phillipsburg.

A limited roster helped the Broncos defeat Stockton in an MCL duel on Thursday, February 1.  Russell/Sylvan-Lucas won easily by a scoer of 45-17 against a Stockton squad with just four boys on its roster.

Winning by forfeit were Logan Jones, Dakota Sullivan, Brayden Schmidt, Trey Zorn, Blaine Lamb, Teagen Pfeifer and Dax Ervin. Alec Huck won a competitive match by an 8-6 score ;while Losing by fall were Tucker Danning and Slayde Nuss.

The Broncos then traveled to Phillpsburg for the Panther Classic.  Xzephren Donner went 1-1 at 106 pounds and finished in second place , Dakota Sullivan went 0-2 at 120 pounds, Brayden Schmidt went 0-2 at 132 pounds, Trey Zorn went 3-2 at 138 pounds and missed the medal stand by one match, Slayde Nuss went 0-2 at 144 pounds, Kolton Jones went 0-2 at 150 pounds, Ethan Koetkemeyer went 1-2 at 157 pounds, Teagen Pfeifer did not wrestle due to injury, Brayden Suchy finished second at 175 pounds with a record of 3-1.  Alec Huck went 2-2 at 190 pounds, Dax Ervin went 0-2 at 215 pounds and Jamis Self went 0-2 at 285 pounds.

Russell/Sylvan-Lucas placed ninth out of 19 teams at the event. 

The Bronco wrestlers will now turn their attention to the Class 3-2-1A Regional in Gypsum, Kansas hosted by Southeast of Saline High School on Saturday, February 17.
