RV 19U Baseball Competes in Garden City Tournament
The Russell-Victoria Baseball Group's 19 and Under Baseball team took to the road this past weekend for a tournament in Garden City.
On Saturday, June 26, Russell-Victoria's 13-game season-opening winning streak was snapped with an 11-9 defeat at the hands of the Amarillo (Texas) Elite as Rhett Posphical was tagged with the loss. Russell-Victoria bounced back later Saturday to down Goodland 11-1 behind a complete game performance by Jackson Cross.
All three teams in Russell-Victoria's pool split their Saturday games and Russell-Victoria entered Sunday's semifinals as the #1 seed in their pool. However, Russell-Victoria was eliminated in the semifinals with a 8-5 loss to Garden City with Andrew Roth taking the loss. The Russell-Victoria offense was very productive in the tournament, scoring 25 runs in their three games.
Russell-Victoria (14-2) is next in action on Thursday, July 1 as they begin play at the Wild West Tournament in Hays. Their first game that day will be against Ottawa at 3 p.m. at Hays High School and they will also play at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hays High against the Topeka Senators.
