State Line All-Star Weekend: NPL Sweeps TVL in Hoops, Falls in Volleyball

The Northern Plains League and Nebraska's Twin Valley League renewed their All-Star series this past weekend at Rock Hills Junior-Senior High School in Mankato.
The weekend began on Friday night with the Twin Valley League All-Stars prevailing over their NPL counterparts in a three-game sweep by scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 26-24. Area players competing in the Volleyball match included Emily Cheek, Maggie Labertew and Serenity Steineke of Sylvan-Lucas, Kassi Kaser and Addison Poore of Osborne, Makayla Murphy of Natoma and Tyra Meyer of Lincoln.
Basketball took center stage on Saturday with the Northern Plains League claiming a 41-33 victory in the Girls contest. Labertew led all scorers with 12 points on the strength of four three-point baskets. Other area players taking part included Steineke from Sylvan-Lucas, Murphy from Natoma and the Osborne trio of Kaser, Poore and Grace William.
In the Boys game, the NPL All-Stars made it a sweep on the hardwood over the TVL by a score of 51-40. Dalton Garman of Osborne paced the Northern Plains League with 10 points while Lincoln's Cooper Rathbun added nine points. Other area players on the roster included Connor Charvat of Sylvan-Lucas along with Jace Cunningham and Reece Remus of Lakeside.
The All-Star weekend takes place every year in June alternating between high schools in Kansas and Nebraska.
