Sub-State Roundup: Victoria Captures Title in Stockton

The Victoria Lady Knights volleyball team won their second-straight sub-state title on Saturday, October 24.

The top-seeded Lady Knights went 2-0 to take the Stockton 1A Div. I Sub-State. After getting a first round bye, Victoria went to work by beating Oberlin-Decatur Community in two (25-15, 25-13) in the semifinals and then took down Thunder Ridge in two (25-19, 26-24) in the championship match.

Victoria (26-5) advances to the state quarterfinals and will play Central Plains (27-11) on Tuesday in Claflin. The winner of the best 3-out-of-5 match moves on to the state tournament Saturday, October 31 in Dodge City.

Sylvan-Lucas had their hopes of a trip to the state tournament dashed after losing to Central Plains in three (22-25, 25-12, 25-18) in the championship match of their 1A Div. I Sub-State in Sylvan Grove. The Lady Mustangs finish an outstanding season with a 34-3 record.

And at the Russell 3A Sub-State, the host Lady Broncos fell to TMP-Marian in two (25-11, 25-17) in the first round. Russell ends the season with a 6-24 mark. TMP-Marian (30-7) went on to beat top-seeded Phillipsburg in the championship match to advance to Tuesday's state quarterfinal.
