Victoria Looks to Sustain Success on Gridiron, Take Next Step

The Victoria Knights advanced to the 8-Man Division ll Sub-State Championship game for the third time in four years last season only to see their season end short of the state title game.
The Knights went 9-2 in 2023 and won their fourth consecutive district championship, then cruised to easy victories over Logan-Palco, South Barber and Dighton before being halted in the semifinals by a surging South Central team.
19th-year head coach Doug Oberle talked about the frustration of knocking on the door once again but not being quite able to kick it in.
Wyatt Griffin will succeed Landon Schmidtberger as the starting Quarterback for the Knights. Oberle has great confidence in Griffin who has been in the program for a few years at various positions.
Victoria will compete in District 6 this season with some new opponents including Hodgeman County, Macksville and Stafford. Oberle says he's pleased overall with the Knight's schedule this season which also includes a familiar non-district opponent, the Osborne Bulldogs.
Victoria will open the season on Friday, September 6 at home against Ness City. The game will kick off at 7 p.m. and be broadcast on Classic Hits 107.9 FM KZRS and streamed online at KRSL.com and on your Alexa device.
