An Answers for Older Kansans Seminar Series Scam Scan hosted by North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging and Kansas Legal Services has begun. The seminars are free and open to the public.

Seminars began January 24 with great attendance. With such high demand, seminars are continuing through April.

Corinne Petrik, Managing Attorney at Kansas Legal Services, recent Sunflower Fair presenter and presenter for this seminar series, summed up what to expect should you attend, "Getting scammed can happen to anyone. I'm willing to bet that anyone reading this publication has had an email, phone call or text message today that has attempted to scam them. This presentation is designed to help you recognize common scams in order to avoid falling prey to them. You will learn prevention tips to help keep you, your money and your information safe."

April 2024 dates include April 10 at 10:30 AM at the Glen Elder Senior Center at 113 North Mill Street in Glen Elder, April 10 at 12:30 PM at the Jewell County Senior Center at 214 North High Street Suite Two in Mankato, April 24 at 10:30 AM at the Ellsworth Senior Center at 119 West 4th Street in Ellsworth and April 24 at 12:30 PM at the Wilson Senior Center at 511 25th Street in Wilson.

Medicare Basics are offered via Zoom or in-person. It's a class to educate and inform you of the ins and outs of Medicare, especially if you are close to 65 years of age and preparing to enroll in Medicare.

Upcoming free Medicare Basics seminars with pre-registration required are on Zoom on April 3 and 4 from 5:30 to 7 PM, in-person in Manhattan at the Manhattan Public Library from 1 to 3 PM and on Zoom on April 17 and 18 from 5:30 to 7 PM.
