The Class Two cohort of Russell County Leadership embarked on a transformative journey to Topeka on March 13. The purpose of the trip was to gain firsthand insight into the legislative process of the state.

During their visit, the class had the privilege of meeting with State Representative Troy Waymaster and State Senator Elaine Bowers. These meetings provided a unique opportunity for Class Two to engage with elected officials, discuss local issues and gain valuable insights into the workings of state governance.

The highlight of the trip was a historic tour of the Kansas State Capitol, including a dome tour that offered breathtaking views of Topeka.

The day culminated with the class observing the afternoon Senate session, providing them with a firsthand look at the legislative process in action. This experience not only enriched their understanding of state politics, but also inspired them to become more actively engaged in their communities.

"We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to visit Topeka and learn from our state's leaders," said Rex Soldan, Class Two Associate. "This experience has not only deepened our understanding of the legislative process but has also motivated us to be more involved citizens."
