Garden City Man Injured in Semi Crash in Russell County

A Garden City man was injured in a semi truck crash on February 9 on Interstate 70 in Russell County.

According to the Russell County Sheriff's Office, at 1:48 AM on February 9, a 2000 Peterbilt semi pulling a trailer driven by 22-year-old Jonathan Gomez of Garden City was westbound on I-70 at mile marker 199 near Dorrance.

The semi drifted into the north ditch and drove over a culvert grate. The trailer detached from the tractor. The trailer came to rest in some nearby trees. The tractor came to rest in the ditch.

Gomez received minor injuries, was treated on-scene and refused transport to the hospital.

He was buckled up at the time of the crash according to the Sheriff's Office.
