Quinday is Credentialed by International Local Government Management Organization

Jon Quinday, City Manager of Russell, recently received the Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA, the International City/County Management Association.

Quinday is one of over 1,300 local government management professionals credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program.

ICMA's mission is to advance professional local government through leadership, management, innovation and ethics and by increasing the proficiency of appointed chief administrative officers, assistant administrators and other employees who serve local governments and regional entities worldwide. The organization's 13,000 members in 27 countries include educators, students and other local government employees.

To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and a lifelong learning and professional development.

According to Mayor Cross, "City Manager Quinday is constantly striving to gain knowledge that he can implement for the betterment of the City of Russell. His dedication to Russell and the citizens of our community has not gone unnoticed. I want to congratulate City Manager Quinday on this well-deserved designation."

Before his appointment in 2012 as City Manager of Russell, Quinday served as Police Chief in Hoisington and Russell and as an Incident Commander for the Northwest Kansas Incident Management Team. Before moving to Kansas, Quinday served eight years in the United States Army with service during the Persian Gulf War and Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti.

Quinday has made significant contributions to other organizations, including serving as President of the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency Board of Directors, Chair of the Joint Board of Administration for the Kansas Municipal Energy Agency, and the Kansas Municipal Gas Agency. Quinday has previously served on several League of Kansas Municipalities Legislative Committees, the Smoky Hill-Saline Regional Advisory Committee and the USD 407 Board of Education. He is a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans and the Combat Veteran's Motorcycle Association.
