WILSON-Backup Quarterback Landon Schmidtberger rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns and Seth Schwien caught two touchdown passes as the third-ranked Victoria Knights defeated Wilson 57-0 Friday evening in 8-Man Division ll District 5 action.

After Wilson bobbled the opening kickoff, the Dragons began their first possession on their own five-yard line and on the first play from scrimmage the ball was snapped through the back of the end zone giving Victoria a safety and a 2-0 lead.

The Knights then received the ensuing free kick and needed just two plays to find the end zone when Carson Werth ran 29 yards for a touchdown and an 8-0 lead after the conversion failed.  Seth Schwien completed Victoria's next possession in one play when he caught a 47-yard touchdown pass from Grant Schoenrock to make the score 16-0 after the successful two-point try.

A 40-yard run by Nate Windholz and a 41-yard touchdown pass from Thaddeus Wohler to Schwien put Victoria up 29-0 after the first quarter.

A little over a minute into the second stanza, Werth scored his second touchdown of the night from 15 yards out to give the Knights a 36-0 advantage.  Wilson appeared to pin Victoria deep in their own territory after Dragons punter Henry Kingsbury got a friendly bounce for a 47-yard kick that gave the Knights possession on their own eight-yard line.

Schmidtberger, the third-string Quarterback then ran around right end and scampered 72 yards up the west sideline for a score and a 43-0 Victoria lead.  The Knights then closed out the scoring on a 26-yard run by Greg Huser and a 30-yard run by Schmidtberger.

Wilson's best chance to score was on their final drive when they advanced to the Victoria 15-yard line aided by a couple of Knights penalties but Quarterback Taegan Thrasher was intercepted in the end zone on a fourth down pass and Victoria then ran out the clock for their third straight win.

Victoria (5-1, 4-0 in 8-Man ll District 5) amassed 267 of their 355 yards of total offense on the ground while the Knights stingy defense held Wilson (1-5, 1-3 in 8 Man ll District 5) to 40 yards of total offense.

Victoria returns home next Friday, October 15 to host Tescott on Senior Night while Wilson will go on the road for their annual rivalry showdown with Sylvan-Lucas which won 50-0 at Central Plains on Friday night.
