Victoria's Macy Hammerschmidt won the Class 1A long jump title on Saturday, May 29 at the Kansas High School State Track and Field Meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

The VHS sophomore had a winning jump of 16' 9.25". She also finished fourth in the 100 M dash and seventh in the 200 M dash.

Her teammate Kaitlyn Windholz placed eighth in the 200 M dash, but did not qualify for the finals in the 100 M dash.

Melany Huser, also from Victoria, took 11th in the 800 M run. The Lady Knights 4x100 relay team finished 12th.

Natoma and Sylvan-Lucas each had one state qualifier. For Natoma, it was Carley Chrisler in the 200 M dash and for Sylvan-Lucas, it was Jaden Huehl in the 100 M hurdles. But neither qualified for the finals.

This year, the KSHSAA State Track and Field meet was split up over three days. Classes 5A and 6A competed on Thursday, 3A and 4A went on Friday and 1A and 2A on Saturday.
