The Russell-Victoria Baseball and Softball teams split road doubleheaders on Friday afternoon in Ellinwood.

The Baseball team took Game 1 from the Eagles 7-2 with Max Evans picking up the win in four innings of work. Sam Thielen pitched the final three innings as the two pitchers combined for six strikeouts.  Evans and Matt Pfeifer paced an 11-hit attack with two base knocks apiece as Russell-Victoria moved to .500 for the first time this season.

In the nightcap, the Broncos saw an early two-run lead evaporate as Ellinwood cruised to a 10-4 win.  Mason Rohr lasted just two innings and took the loss while Cale Braun and Thielen mopped up in relief.  Five errors plagued Russell-Victoria (4-5).  Thielen accounted for three of the Broncos' five hits.

The Russell-Victoria Softball team dropped Game 1 of its twinbill to Ellinwood 15-4 as Jonae Radke took the loss.. In the nighcap however, the Lady Broncos held off a late Ellinwood rally to win 16-11 and pick up their first win of the season behind Gracelynn Dinkel.  The Lady Broncos (1-9) led 13-3 after four innings before the Lady Eagles came storming back. Two insurance runs in the late innings clinched the victory.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday, April 16 when they travel to Minneapolis.  Both doubleheaders will begin at 4 p.m.
