The Russell-Victoria Broncos baseball team took the field against Ellsworth Thursday afternoon at the Shaffer Sports Complex for a game that initially began 23 days ago.

The two teams had started Game 2 of a doubleheader on April 6 when it was halted with Ellsworth in front 1-0 in the top of the second inning after the Bearcats had won the opener 12-4.

The Broncos went right to work in their first two at bats following the resumption of the game and rallied for a 5-3 victory. Russell-Victoria scored two runs apiece in the second and third innings and added another tally in the fifth inning while Ellsworth added single runs in the third and seventh frames.

The Bearcats were threatening to tie the game with two outs in the top of the seventh and had runners at first and third base until Jackson Cross (pictured) snuffed out the rally with a game-ending strikeout.

Russell-Victoria (4-6) is back at the Shaffer Sports Complex on Friday, April 30 for a doubleheader with Elllinwood. First pitch for Game 1 is set for 4 p.m.
