Lady Broncos Swept at Home by Goodland

Playing at home for the first time in more than two weeks, the Russell Victoria Softball team took on Goodland Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Park but it was the Cowgirls who made the most of their visit to Russell as they swept both ends of the doubleheader 17-5 and 15-3.

The Lady Broncos, after giving up two runs in the top of the first inning of Game 1, stormed back to take a 3-2 lead heading to the second inning.  After that, Goodland held the Lady Bronco offense to just two additional runs on their way to a win as the game ended after six innings due to the run rule. 

In the nightcap, Goodland bolted out to a 7-0 lead after three innings and never looked back as they finished off the sweep with a seven-run outburst in the top of the sixth to once again enforce the run rule.

Russell-Victoria (0-8) is next in action on Friday, April 12 when they travel to Ellinwood for doubleheader with the Eagles.  First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
