Regional Cross Country: Sylvan-Lucas Sending Two to State

Regional cross country meets were held in Kansas on Saturday, October 24.

Runners battled cold, windy weather. The top two teams and the top 10 individuals at each regional qualified for state.

At the Riley County 1A Regional, Sylvan-Lucas qualified two for the state meet - Zach Rose and Jonah Huehl. Rose placed fifth with a time of 18:37 and Huehl finished seventh with a 19:04 in the boys race. The Mustangs had two other runners in the race - Kolton Palmer 27th (20:08) and Hagen Starkey 69th (23:34). Sylvan-Lucas had two girls run. Jadon Huehl was 24th (24:29) and MeKelle Hurlbut finished 29th (24:58). Natoma had three run in the regional and all three just missed trips to state. Ashton Lund was 12th (22:51) and Carley Chrysler was 15th (23:25) in the girls race and in the boys run, Logan Pruter was 15th (19:39).

Victoria sent two runners to the Tribune-Greeley Co. 1A Regional. Sarah Housley finished 36th (28:09) in the girls race and Benjamin Housley was 50th (22:37) in the boys race.

Russell took five to the Norton 3A Regional. Camille Dortland ended up in 17th with a time of 22:49 in the girls race. In the boys race, Charlie Krug was 30th (21:06), Tyler Lampert 33rd (21:39), Jackson Cross 35th (21:55) and Hunter Throop 44th (23:07).

The 1A State Cross Country Meet will be held on Saturday, October 31 at Sand Plum Natural Trail in Victoria.
