Russell's Moresco, Windholz Take First at Hays' Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic
Four members of the Russell High School boys wrestling team competed in the Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic hosted by Hays High School on Friday and Saturday, January 21-22.
Tyler Moresco posted a perfect 4-0 mark, earning three falls and an overtime victory, and took the 195 pound weight class. The RHS senior, who's ranked #1 in Class 3-2-1A at 195, is now 14-1 this winter.
Jacob Windholz went 5-0 with three falls and a pair of decision victories and won the 145 pound division. The Bronco senior, who is #4 at 145 in 3-2-1A, improves to 23-3.
Brayden Suchy went 1-2 at 152 and Maximus Self had a 2-2 record at 285.
The Bob Kuhn Prairie Classic featured 26 schools from Classes 3-2-1 to 6A. Russell finished 14th in the team standings with 58 points. Hays High won their own meet with 153.5 points. Manhattan was second with 120.5 points. Kapaun-Mt. Carmel finished third with 116.5 points.
Russell wrestles in the Mid-Continent League Invitational on Friday, January 28 in WaKeeney at Trego Community High School. Matches begin at 10 AM.
