Russell's Nichol and Peerman Capture State Titles

Russell's Renee Nichol and Jace Peerman each captured state titles on Friday, May 28 at the Kansas High School State Track and Field Meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.

Nichol, who won the Class 3A long jump crown as a sophomore in 2019, reclaimed the long jump title with a leap of 17' 3.25". She also finished fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 35'.

Peerman, a sophomore at RHS, won the high jump title with a leap of 6'4".

Brayden Strobel tied for 14th in the high jump with a jump a 5'8".

Jesse Whitmer ran a time of 11.02 in the 100 M dash and placed sixth.

This year, the KSHSAA State Track and Field meet was split up over three days. Classes 5A and 6A competed on Thursday, 3A and 4A went on Friday and 1A and 2A on Saturday.
