Track and Field: RHS Boys 3rd, Girls 4th at Plainville

The Russell High School Boys and Girls Track and Field teams competed on Tuesday at the Plainville Invitational.

The Lady Broncos finished tied for fourth with Natoma with 62 points while the Broncos were tied for third with Trego Community High School with 59 points.  TMP-Marian edged out Ellis by one point to win the Girls team title while Norton won the Boys title by three points over host Plainville.

Highlights for the RHS Girls included Kinsey Zorn winning the 400-meter race and finishing third in the 800-meter race.  The Girls 4x800-meter relay team which included Anna Thielen, Annika Nichols, Kelvie Reeves and Kinsey Zorn placed second while Aubrey Birney was second in the high jump, third in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump.  Macy Patterson placed seventh in the shot put competition and fourth in the discus throw.  

Highlights for the RHS Boys included Walker Middleton winning the 200-meter dash and placing second in the 100-meter dash.  Trey Zorn took top honors in the 800-meter run and finished second in the 1,600-meter run. The Boys 4x100-meter relay team which included Middleton, Camden Backhus, Seth Schneider and Peyton Pfannenstiel finished in first place.

The Track and Field teams will next be in action at the Phillipsburg Invitational on Friday, April 19.  Events begin at 3 p.m.
